The Best Way to Learn Fast - All Ages and Abilities
Let us introduce you to our group music lessons! They're called Accelerated Labs and are an innovative approach to music education that teaches independent practice skills and accelerates achievement. Lab students move faster through their music, are better at practicing, and are more self-sufficient learners. For most beginning to intermediate students, it’s the best way to learn. Watch Kay explain it in our 90 second video below!

Three to five students work separately at their pianos with headphones, alternating between interacting with the teacher and independent learning. The lab is compatible with any curriculum, preferred method or repertoire. Each student’s progress is completely separate and independent from everyone else. In addition to their regular curriculum books, Lab students work from Musicologie's proprietary Lab curriculum which fills learning gaps and makes drilling scales and technique fun!
Our group music lessons, specifically Accelerated Piano Lab, have been shown to dramatically improve a student’s sight reading skills. This is the biggest skill that students need in order to learn music quickly.
Students move through their books faster.
Students learn more music each week.
Includes proven practice techniques so home practice is all about review and increasing speed.
Less tedium = more fun at home.

We have more than 7000 students and hundreds of 5-star reviews! Musicologie students love learning music, enjoy the community and make serious progress.
Musicologie has been great for my daughter, she loves her drum lessons with Tony and recently self-composed her own bucket-drum piece with him, including cow bell! All you need is more cow bell right?! :) Thank you for being a wonderful and consistent music teacher for her since she started!
I can't say enough good things about Anna at Musicologie Carmel. I came in wanting to play the violin, and what I didn't expect was a teacher who would help me become an actual musician. Anna doesn't just teach you the notes... she teaches you how to listen, how to phrase, how to bring feeling and intention to what you're playing. Her lessons are patient, encouraging, and tailored to where I actually am, and she has a way of pushing me just past my comfort zone so I keep growing every single week. If you're looking for someone who will take your playing seriously and make the whole process genuinely joyful, Anna at Musicologie is the teacher for you. 🎻
We have been bringing our 4 year old son (Who is starting to learn english) for piano lessons with his teacher Jo. I cannot say enough good things about Jo the school, our son has just flourished since starting his lessons here, not only on his ability to play piano hut also socially. His teacher is patient and kind with him and always makes him feel extremely proud of himself. We definitely appreciate this place so much and will recommend it to anyone looking for teachers who not only view your children as students but also as human beings and friends!
Our kiddos love going and practicing at the Carmel location. The teachers meet them at their comfort level and then give goals for the next meeting. You know it’s a good fit when they willingly practice at home during the week! Our oldest is looking for violin songs to surprise Anna with and our youngest is supported by Alex as he finds his beat on the drums!
My son takes guitar lessons at Musicologie in Carmel, IN, and we are so proud of his progress. The teachers are amazing—patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging. They make learning fun and have helped him grow. We highly recommend Musicologie to anyone looking for excellent music lessons!
My daughter takes violin classes with Anna. She is a great teacher and my daughter loves learning with her. Staff is very friendly, accommodating and rescheduling is a breeze, highly recommend this school!!
Rebecca has been teaching my daughter Dixie violin for over a year, and she is hands-down the best instructor we could have hoped for. She challenges Dixie to keep improving while also helping her truly understand the music and the instrument—not just play the notes. Rebecca has a wonderful balance of encouragement and thoughtful correction. She praises Dixie’s progress while gently guiding her through areas that need work, always with so much care and kindness. It’s clear she genuinely cares about her students and their growth. We feel incredibly lucky to have found her, and I’m so grateful they’ve become such a strong, inspiring duo. Rebecca is making a lasting impact on Dixie’s violin journey, and we couldn’t recommend her more. 🎻
Our experience at Musicologie has been excellent so far! Tony and Ben are very caring, thoughtful and deliberate instructors. They are both great about giving specific feedback on what their strengths are and areas to focus on improving. I've also benefitted greatly from the convenient scheduling and makeup policy. Perfect for busy families. Thank you Tony, Ben, Jo & Zach!
As a 55‑year‑old woman returning to the piano after more than three decades away, I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher than Jared. Even though he’s skilled in so many instruments, he tailors each lesson to my pace with a balance of patience, encouragement, and just the right amount of challenge. He’s warm, supportive, and genuinely fun to learn from, which makes my weekly private lessons something I look forward to. His practical tips, clear explanations, and thoughtful guidance have made a huge difference in my confidence and progress. I wholeheartedly recommend Musicologie in Carmel—and especially Jared—to learners of any age who want an inspiring, enjoyable, and truly personalized music experience.
Our family loves coming here! Our son has been coming since he had just turned 3 and has really enjoyed seeing Jo every week. He says Mondays are Jo days and considers Jo his favorite singer🥹. We love how Jo meets kids where they are and pushes them in a kind and encouraging way. In the past year, we have seen kids with varying personality types join our classes and Jo’s patience and ability to make each kid shine is impressive. The age range of our class (Juniors) means it is a bit of organized chaos and a lot of fun.
Musicologie Nashville is a great place! The kids love it and they are learning so much!
We have had an EXCELLENT experience at Musicologie Nashville. Preston, our kiddo’s instructor, has further nurtured our child’s love of music. I STRONGLY recommend anyone looking for lessons to look no further! These folks are kind, passionate, and generally awesome.
My drum lesson with Doug was great! He was very friendly, patient, and we jumped right in. I highly recommend it!
My boys LOVE taking lessons with Doug and Anakin! They are both really kind, considerate/helpful in their feedback, and genuinely want to see them get better. The best part is they are excited to practice throughout the week too because they want to do well for their teachers on lesson day! Thank you for being such supportive and encouraging teachers :)

We are driven by a set of unifying principles that guide every lesson, every class, and every interaction.
Research shows the earlier you start, the more lifetime benefits you receive from studying music.
Music is awesome! It teaches so many things: emotional intelligence, discipline, self-awareness, motor skills, dexterity and more.
We focus on the process rather than the product, facilitating discovery rather than dictating information. We teach how to learn, not just what to learn.
We know a student's success is our responsibility. It's our job to make lessons engaging, fun, and easy to be excited about.
All our lessons and classes are experiential and immersive, fun and exciting!
We grow the trust, mutual respect and confidence of our students by assuming good intentions from everyone.
Making mistakes is what learning is. You try something, make mistakes, and try again. We encourage mistakes so our students are excited to take risks and try new things.
Musicologie Chesterfield
We want you to have total confidence that Musicologie Chesterfield is the right place for you or your child to start, or continue your musical journey. So we've collected the most frequently asked questions about our music lessons, our programs, and what it's like learning music at Musicologie.
The Musicologie Method is at the core of every lesson and class we teach. It’s rooted in two things: a safe environment, and student-centered learning. Research tells us these two elements are key components of the way everyone learns, from kids through adults.
In music lessons, a Safe Environment means a place where you feel free to be who you are, encouraged to play the music you enjoy, and excited to try new things.
Student-Centered Learning means harnessing trust, collaboration, and exploration to give students the agency and the inspiration to achieve their goals and to make the learning process engaging and fun.
We teach all ages. Many of our students are between the ages of 5 and 12, but we teach toddlers and we teach many adults, too! Our toddler music class is called Musicologie Junior and starts at 6 months. Private lessons start at 5. We also have a rock band class called Rockstars where students ages 7+ learn to be rock stars and play at local venues!
We also have member workshops, open mics, and concerts for all our students, including adults! At Musicologie Chesterfield, not only can you learn an instrument from an amazing, friendly, certified teacher, but you can meet other musicians and join a community of music explorers!
Get started here by answering a few questions. We'll match you with a teacher and find a time that works for ongoing lessons. The first lesson is called an assessment lesson.
A lesson membership is how you sign up for your weekly lesson or class at Musicologie. Your membership fee is billed monthly. The price depends on which lessons or classes you're enrolled in.
Sure, we offer drop-in lessons for students who can't commit to a weekly lesson.
You will be charged a prorated amount for the remaining days in the month and then you’ll go into our automated system and be billed on the 1st of each month for the upcoming month.
To withdraw from lessons, you must give 30 days advance notice by filling out our online exit form. This is the only way to withdraw. Contact us for the exit form.
We know that you'll stay more engaged by learning music you love and you'll grow faster by using what you've learned in your lessons in performances. We'll take our own Musicologie Method, along with traditional method books like Suzuki, Alfred's, Faber, etc., and combine that with contemporary music you're excited about with the goal of performing in one of our ensembles, group classes, or at one of our concerts.
Not for your first lesson. We have instruments at our studios you can use for the first few lessons. But after that you'll want to get your own instrument for practice at home. Your teacher will help you pick out the right one. We also have open practice hours so you can come in and use instruments and practice rooms at Musicologie during the week.
If you do have your own instrument, you should definitely bring it with you, as long as it's easily portable - leave your piano and drums at home
An assessment lesson is what we call your first lesson. Don't worry, it's not a test! You'll come in, meet your teacher, talk about your goals, go through our policies and develop an individual curriculum. Every student does it regardless of age or ability. For very young students, an assessment is also a chance to see if they're ready for private lessons.
Each of our studios may have different prices, so get started here to learn more!
Of course! Here's how it works:
