They meet you where you are, build confidence, and build technical skills. But most importantly it’s fun!" **Prosper, Texas** ## **Piano Lessons** Musicologie® is how modern music education should be. Take piano lessons in person at our Prosper studio or online with an expert Musicologie Prosper teacher. All ages and abilities. ### **How Piano Lessons Work** At Musicologie Prosper, most of what we do is private lessons and piano is one of our main focuses. The piano is an amazing, magical instrument. It’s the perfect place for most students to start. Piano teaches technique and dexterity, theory and note reading, and provides a simple, linear road map of how music works. Once you have that foundation, you can take it anywhere: from impressive classical pieces, to your favorite pop song, to adding another instrument to your resume. Piano lessons are absolutely the best way for every music lover to immerse themselves in music. ### **How old does my child need to be for piano lessons?** We have a rule of thumb: If your child is excited about playing music now, they should start now. Most piano students can start as young as four years old. For kids younger than four who are excited about music, we have [**Musicologie Junior**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/musicologie-junior). Many of our [**teachers**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper#teachers) specialize in early childhood music education. They have the skills, patience and demeanor to help young students grow. ### **What about adult beginners?** Yes! We love adults who are up for the challenge of learning to play a instrument. It's hard work but so rewarding. And it won't take as long as you think to be able to play your favorite songs! We'll help guide you towards your goals and won't make you do endless scales or theory exercises if that's not what you're into. ### **Lessons For Experienced Piano Players** What about lessons for experienced piano players? If you have played before, you probably have a good idea of what you want to work on. We'll match you with one of our advanced piano teachers. Some have doctorates and decades of experience teaching at the collegiate level. Some have masters degrees in piano pedagogy or have toured professionally as jazz sidemen. We offer a world-class, university level piano education. ## **What to Expect from Piano Lessons at Musicologie Prosper** ![Girl playing piano in a piano lesson with her teacher sitting beside her]() ### **Your First Piano Lesson at Musicologie Prosper** To get started with piano lessons, sign up [here](https://app.musicologie.com/get-started?location=prosper&instrument=piano), or contact us at 972-265-9271⁩. My daughter has been taking bass guitar lessons here for about a year, and she also joined the rock band program about five months ago. She has already had three really fun performances, and it has been so sweet to watch her confidence grow. Today she did an evaluation for voice lessons with Lexi and absolutely loved it. She told me she loves the way it feels to sing, which honestly made my heart so happy. I love that Musicologie has helped her find something she truly enjoys and can lose herself in. The teachers and programs have been encouraging, fun, and such a positive outlet for her. We are so thankful for the experience and would definitely recommend Musicologie to other families! ![Profile Picture](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a-/ALV-UjXtCvjRasiO46eUikrLjPmFM6fVydfgwd6wWvBCNi5Q75XPhMp2=s40-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo) [Lisa McDonnell](https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/103312646614201497444/reviews) 5 months ago We had such an incredible experience at my daughter‘s first piano lesson. We were warmly greeted by the owner upon arrival and walked through how everything works. Her teacher, Miss Naomi, was so patient and very informative. I was nervous about taking a five year-old (typical age related attention span & listening skills concerns), but they were so patient and well-versed in how to meet her where she was at. They took a very personalized approach to observing her and what would work to pique her interest. We are excited to get signed up for lessons! ![Profile Picture](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a-/ALV-UjUy7BUKYkFtYrT4EYaUKcjCBSszjV9XdiFZyLpiMBRcqFjH6Mcg=s40-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo) [dimple haygunde](https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/102073349550836712314/reviews) 5 months ago Musicologie Prosper is really a great music school for any kid who would like to start their music journey. It is well structured and so fun. Ms. Naomi does a wonderful job of engaging everyone and making sure the children are having fun while building foundational music skill at age appropriate levels. Our 2 year old gets excited the second we pull in the parking lot and leaves singing the songs from class. We also love the flexibility of rescheduling as she is medically complex so we often miss classes but still feel we get our money’s worth with that flexibility and our daughter doesn’t miss out on an activity she loves. That flexibility is somewhat rare in children’s activities. All of that combined make us very happy customers and we look forward to staying that way! ![Profile Picture](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a-/ALV-UjXU7XPxUoH0L7i_YQk5gIFj9613PNrtHxkyk2Lk9DzSSWyKorE7=s40-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo) [Catherine Ferrara Smith](https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/115910419153829332852/reviews) a month ago (Lakeway, TX) Jordan was fantastic! It teaches so many things: emotional intelligence, discipline, self-awareness, motor skills, dexterity and more. ## We Teach the Process of Learning We focus on the process rather than the product, facilitating discovery rather than dictating information. We teach how to learn, not just what to learn. ## Our Responsibility We know a student's success is our responsibility. It's our job to make lessons engaging, fun, and easy to be excited about. ## We Believe in Immersion + Exploration All our lessons and classes are experiential and immersive, fun and exciting! ## We Assume Good Intentions We grow the trust, mutual respect and confidence of our students by assuming good intentions from everyone. ## We Encourage Mistakes Making mistakes is what learning is. You try something, make mistakes, and try again. We encourage mistakes so our students are excited to take risks and try new things. **Musicologie Prosper** ## **Local Events** ![Musicologie rock band performing on stage]() [**Concerts **](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/concerts) Perform in front of a supportive audience at one of our concerts ![A singer performs at a Musicologie open mic event]() [**Open Mics **](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/open-mics) Have fun and make friends while performing in a relaxed environment ![Four guitar players performing together on stage]() [**Workshops **](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/member-workshops) Learn even more at our single-topic member workshops ![Musicologie All Star Concert Stage and Audience]() [**All Stars **](https://musicologie.com/all-star-concert) Audition to play at our annual All Star Concert! ## **Frequently Asked Questions** We want you to have total confidence that Musicologie Prosper is the right place for you or your child to start, or continue your musical journey. So we've collected the most frequently asked questions about our music lessons, our programs, and what it's like learning music at Musicologie. ### **What is the Musicologie Method™?** The Musicologie Method is at the core of every lesson and class we teach. It’s rooted in two things: a safe environment, and student-centered learning. Research tells us these two elements are key components of the way everyone learns, from kids through adults. In music lessons, a Safe Environment means a place where you feel free to be who you are, encouraged to play the music you enjoy, and excited to try new things. Student-Centered Learning means harnessing trust, collaboration, and exploration to give students the agency and the inspiration to achieve their goals and to make the learning process engaging and fun. ### **What ages does Musicologie teach?** We teach all ages. Many of our students are between the ages of 5 and 12, but we teach toddlers and we teach many adults, too! Our [**toddler music class**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/musicologie-junior) is called Musicologie Junior and starts at 6 months. [**Private lessons**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/music-lessons) start at 5. We also have a [**rock band class**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/rockstars) called Rockstars where students ages 7+ learn to be rock stars and play at local venues! We also have [**member workshops**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/member-workshops), [**open mics**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/open-mics), and [**concerts**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper/concerts) for all our students, including adults! At Musicologie Prosper, not only can you learn an instrument from an amazing, friendly, certified teacher, but you can meet other musicians and join a community of music explorers! ### **How do I sign up for lessons?** [**Get started here**](https://musicologie.app/get-started?location=prosper) by answering a few questions. We'll match you with a teacher and find a time that works for ongoing lessons. The first lesson is called an assessment lesson. ### **What's a lesson membership?** A lesson membership is how you sign up for your weekly lesson or class at Musicologie. Your membership fee is billed monthly. The price depends on which lessons or classes you're enrolled in. ### **Can I do lessons every other week?** Sure, we offer drop-in lessons for students who can't commit to a weekly lesson. ### **What if I start in the middle of the month?** You will be charged a prorated amount for the remaining days in the month and then you’ll go into our automated system and be billed on the 1st of each month for the upcoming month. ### **How do I withdraw from lessons?** To withdraw from lessons, you must give 30 days advance notice by filling out our online exit form. This is the only way to withdraw. [**Contact us**](https://musicologie.com/locations/prosper) for the exit form. ### **What curriculum does Musicologie use?** We know that you'll stay more engaged by learning music you love and you'll grow faster by using what you've learned in your lessons in performances. We'll take our own Musicologie Method, along with traditional method books like Suzuki, Alfred's, Faber, etc., and combine that with contemporary music you're excited about with the goal of performing in one of our ensembles, group classes, or at one of our concerts. ### **Do I need my own instrument?** Not for your first lesson. We have instruments at our studios you can use for the first few lessons. But after that you'll want to get your own instrument for practice at home. Your teacher will help you pick out the right one. We also have open practice hours so you can come in and use instruments and practice rooms at Musicologie during the week. If you do have your own instrument, you should definitely bring it with you, as long as it's easily portable - leave your piano and drums at home ### **What's an Assessment lesson?** An assessment lesson is what we call your first lesson. Don't worry, it's not a test! You'll come in, meet your teacher, talk about your goals, go through our policies and develop an individual curriculum. Every student does it regardless of age or ability. For very young students, an assessment is also a chance to see if they're ready for private lessons. ### **What are Musicologie's prices?** Each of our [**studios**](https://musicologie.com/locations) may have different prices, so [**get started here**](https://musicologie.app/get-started?location=prosper) to learn more! ### **Can I reschedule a lesson if I can't come?** Of course! Here's how it works: 1. Log into your account at Musicologie.com 2. Find the lesson you want to change and select 'cancel' or 'reschedule' at least 24 hours before the lesson. Musicologie Junior and Accelerated Labs can be canceled or rescheduled up to 30 minutes before the class. 3. The canceled lesson will remain in your account to reschedule at any point in the future. 4. If you withdraw from lessons, you can no longer reschedule any lessons you cancelled. 5. If you re-enroll, any previously cancelled lessons will still be available in your account. ### **How do I pay for lessons?** When you sign up for lessons, your credit card or debit card will be automatically debited a flat fee each month on the 1st of the month. To withdraw, you need to provide us with 30-days notice by filling out a withdrawal form. Contact your teacher for the form. ### **Does Musicologie offer refunds?** Musicologie cannot offer refunds for any missed or unused lessons. **Musicologie Prosper** ## **Piano Teachers** ![Profile Picture for Nathan G.](https://app.musicologie.com/api/image-service/96x96/profile-photos/Nathan-Grissett1751730111.png) ### **Nathan G.** He/his Drum Set, Guitar, Ukulele, Bass Guitar, Piano **Certified M2** Nathan Grissett is a passionate and approachable teacher specializing in drum set and guitar.
