They meet you where you are, build confidence, and build technical skills. But most importantly it’s fun!" **Grandview, Ohio** ## **Voice Lessons** Musicologie® is how modern music education should be. Take voice lessons in person at our Grandview studio or online with an expert Musicologie Grandview teacher. All ages and abilities. ![Girl on stage singing at a musicologie concert]() ### **How Voice Lessons Work** At Musicologie Grandview, most of what we do is private lessons and voice is one of our main focuses. Your voice is an instrument you carry with you every day. It’s uniquely yours and incredibly personal. From learning to sing karaoke or polishing your classical vocal technique, from young kids beginning to develop their ears and voice and muscles, to advanced singers honing their craft, each voice has its own individual strengths and needs. ### **How Old Does My Child Need to Be to Take Singing Lessons?** The muscles and work ethic needed for very intensive vocal training don’t develop until age 12 or so, but starting earlier than that can help kids learn the basics of technique and to develop ear training and musical knowledge. Generally 8 or 9 is about right. As always though, if your child is excited about starting lessons, they should start! So for younger aspiring singers ages 5-8, we often do combination lessons with either piano, guitar, or ukulele to jump start their musical education. For very young singers, we have [**Musicologie Junior**](https://musicologie.com/locations/grandview/musicologie-junior). ### **What About Singing Lessons for Adult Beginners?** Singing is incredible and you should do it! It is NOT the case that you need to be talented. Singing is therapeutic and fun. We love adults who are up for the challenge of discovering how to sing. It’s hard work but incredibly rewarding. And we’ll be there to help you set and achieve your specific goals! ### **Lessons For Experienced Singers** If you’ve had some training before, you probably have specific goals in mind for your voice. We’ll pair you with one of our advanced vocal coaches. Some have doctorates and decades of experience in classical technique, some have performed nationally with their bands. Some have voice pedagogy or vocal physiology backgrounds. Some have extensive musical theater experience, or have toured professionally as jazz artists. We want to help you get the voice you want with world-class, university level voice training. ### **Voice Audition Prep** We love to help singers prepare for musical theater, choir, or college entrance auditions. It’s usually best to start at least 3 months ahead of time if you’ve had training in the past, or 6 to 12 months in advance if you’re new to auditioning. We’ll help you find the perfect piece to show off your strengths, develop individualized vocal exercises to address any areas of weakness, and prepare you for the day of the audition with performance guidance, insider audition tips, and tactics for dealing with stress. ## **What to Expect from Voice Lessons at Musicologie Grandview** ![Girl playing piano in a piano lesson with her teacher sitting beside her]() ### **Your First Voice Lesson at Musicologie Grandview** To get started with voice lessons, sign up [here](https://app.musicologie.com/get-started?location=grandview&instrument=voice), or contact us at 614-407-8740⁩. I had trialed another school, but their instructor had pushed me too fast with pieces that were way too difficult for me and did not listen to what I needed. Emily, on the other hand, wanted to know my goals and completed a voice assessment using various techniques that got me singing with a way wider range. Plus, she was great at putting me at ease. It teaches so many things: emotional intelligence, discipline, self-awareness, motor skills, dexterity and more. ## We Teach the Process of Learning We focus on the process rather than the product, facilitating discovery rather than dictating information. We teach how to learn, not just what to learn. ## Our Responsibility We know a student's success is our responsibility. It's our job to make lessons engaging, fun, and easy to be excited about. ## We Believe in Immersion + Exploration All our lessons and classes are experiential and immersive, fun and exciting! ## We Assume Good Intentions We grow the trust, mutual respect and confidence of our students by assuming good intentions from everyone. ## We Encourage Mistakes Making mistakes is what learning is. You try something, make mistakes, and try again. We encourage mistakes so our students are excited to take risks and try new things. **Musicologie Grandview** ## **Local Events** ![Musicologie rock band performing on stage]() [**Concerts **](https://musicologie.com/locations/grandview/concerts) Perform in front of a supportive audience at one of our concerts ![A singer performs at a Musicologie open mic event]() [**Open Mics **](https://musicologie.com/locations/grandview/open-mics) Have fun and make friends while performing in a relaxed environment ![Four guitar players performing together on stage]() [**Workshops **](https://musicologie.com/locations/grandview/member-workshops) Learn even more at our single-topic member workshops ![Musicologie All Star Concert Stage and Audience]() [**All Stars **](https://musicologie.com/locations/grandview/all-star-concert) Audition to play at our annual All Star Concert! ## **Frequently Asked Questions** We want you to have total confidence that Musicologie Grandview is the right place for you or your child to start, or continue your musical journey. So we've collected the most frequently asked questions about our music lessons, our programs, and what it's like learning music at Musicologie. ### **What is the Musicologie Method™?** The Musicologie Method is at the core of every lesson and class we teach. It’s rooted in two things: a safe environment, and student-centered learning. Research tells us these two elements are key components of the way everyone learns, from kids through adults. In music lessons, a Safe Environment means a place where you feel free to be who you are, encouraged to play the music you enjoy, and excited to try new things. Student-Centered Learning means harnessing trust, collaboration, and exploration to give students the agency and the inspiration to achieve their goals and to make the learning process engaging and fun. ### **What ages does Musicologie teach?** We teach all ages. Many of our students are between the ages of 5 and 12, but we teach toddlers and we teach many adults, too! Our [**toddler music class**](https://musicologie.com/locations/grandview/musicologie-junior) is called Musicologie Junior and starts at 6 months. At Musicologie Grandview, not only can you learn an instrument from an amazing, friendly, certified teacher, but you can meet other musicians and join a community of music explorers! ### **How do I sign up for lessons?** [**Get started here**](https://musicologie.app/get-started?location=grandview) by answering a few questions. We'll match you with a teacher and find a time that works for ongoing lessons. The first lesson is called an assessment lesson. ### **What's a lesson membership?** A lesson membership is how you sign up for your weekly lesson or class at Musicologie. Your membership fee is billed monthly. The price depends on which lessons or classes you're enrolled in. ### **Can I do lessons every other week?** Sure, we offer drop-in lessons for students who can't commit to a weekly lesson. ### **What if I start in the middle of the month?** You will be charged a prorated amount for the remaining days in the month and then you’ll go into our automated system and be billed on the 1st of each month for the upcoming month. ### **How do I withdraw from lessons?** To withdraw from lessons, you must give 30 days advance notice by filling out our online exit form. This is the only way to withdraw. [**Contact us**](https://musicologie.com/locations/grandview/contact) for the exit form. ### **What curriculum does Musicologie use?** We know that you'll stay more engaged by learning music you love and you'll grow faster by using what you've learned in your lessons in performances. We'll take our own Musicologie Method, along with traditional method books like Suzuki, Alfred's, Faber, etc., and combine that with contemporary music you're excited about with the goal of performing in one of our ensembles, group classes, or at one of our concerts. ### **Do I need my own instrument?** Not for your first lesson. We have instruments at our studios you can use for the first few lessons. But after that you'll want to get your own instrument for practice at home. Your teacher will help you pick out the right one. We also have open practice hours so you can come in and use instruments and practice rooms at Musicologie during the week. If you do have your own instrument, you should definitely bring it with you, as long as it's easily portable - leave your piano and drums at home ### **What's an Assessment lesson?** An assessment lesson is what we call your first lesson. Don't worry, it's not a test! You'll come in, meet your teacher, talk about your goals, go through our policies and develop an individual curriculum. Every student does it regardless of age or ability. For very young students, an assessment is also a chance to see if they're ready for private lessons. ### **What are Musicologie's prices?** Each of our [**studios**](https://musicologie.com/locations) may have different prices, so [**get started here**](https://musicologie.app/get-started?location=grandview) to learn more! ### **Can I reschedule a lesson if I can't come?** Of course! Here's how it works: 1. Log into your account at Musicologie.com 2. Find the lesson you want to change and select 'cancel' or 'reschedule' at least 24 hours before the lesson. Musicologie Junior and Accelerated Labs can be canceled or rescheduled up to 30 minutes before the class. 3. The canceled lesson will remain in your account to reschedule at any point in the future. 4. If you withdraw from lessons, you can no longer reschedule any lessons you cancelled. 5. If you re-enroll, any previously cancelled lessons will still be available in your account. ### **How do I pay for lessons?** When you sign up for lessons, your credit card or debit card will be automatically debited a flat fee each month on the 1st of the month. To withdraw, you need to provide us with 30-days notice by filling out a withdrawal form. Contact your teacher for the form. ### **Does Musicologie offer refunds?** Musicologie cannot offer refunds for any missed or unused lessons. **Musicologie Grandview** ## **Voice Teachers** ![Profile Picture for Regan T.](https://app.musicologie.com/api/image-service/96x96/profile-photos/Regan-Tackett1730911808.webp) Regan T.
